Make It Seamless.
Police Oracle is a vital hub for the online policing community, trusted by officers and staff across UK Police forces and law enforcement agencies.
The subscription-based website is content driven, with articles and information added daily via an editorial team at Red Snapper Group.

ChallengesWith the site needing a complete overhaul, we had to tackle potential challenges head on not just the usual “make it look good” stuff, but the nitty gritty of usability and integration too.

One of the main challenges would be designing for the people who’d be updating the site daily, with their team handling sensitive, complex data like user information, payments across multiple sites (the kind of stuff that keeps IT teams up at night).
So, we looked for smart ways to automate processes, making life easier for the people behind the scenes while keeping things smooth for the end user. Oh, and it had to integrate seamlessly with other sites across the Red Snapper Group, because why make it simple when you can make it seamless?
From a user journey and interface perspective, we needed to create a site that speaks to everyone, from career starters in their 20’s to retirees in their 60’s. With such a mixed crowd, people consume, create and update content in all sorts of ways, so the site needed to be intuitive, flexible and accessible to everyone.
And… Breathe!Faced with these challenges, we guided the client through a discovery workshop to define their goals for the build, expand user personas and pinpoint exactly who’d be using the site. This helped us lay the foundations to craft unique user experiences and a functional spec designed to make the site simple, intuitive and genuinely easy to use (no head scratching required).

With the groundwork in place and the client on board, we turned strategy into reality with a modern, easy-to-navigate interface for both desktop and mobile. Depending on the subscription, users get access to tailored features just the right tools, nothing unnecessary, all designed to make their experience smoother.

Behind the scenes, we integrated multiple APIs to seamlessly manage data handling, subscriptions, renewals and payment gateways. We also connected the site with other Red Snapper Group platforms to streamline content curation because let’s be honest, no one loves repetitive tasks. To make things even more efficient, we hooked the site up with Mailjet to automatically create dynamic HTML newsletters for daily, weekly and regular recruitment emailers (saving the editorial team from the manual processes).


After 12 years, this much-needed overhaul has given us a purpose-built website that meets the needs of both our content teams and, more importantly, our subscribers. We can now communicate more effectively and tailor content to our audience’s interests.
