Designing a magazine that preserves a legacy

Turning wartime stories into timeless print.
We partnered with Bletchley Park to bring their ULTRA Magazine to life. From layout and structure to typography and imagery, we crafted a bi-annual publication that connects readers to the past, while keeping the storytelling sharp, consistent and relevant.

The challenge
Bletchley Park needed a design partner and extension of their team, who could honour the legacy without freezing it in time. ULTRA Magazine had a clear identity, but the content and layout needed refining to keep readers engaged and the stories flowing.
The Solution
We embedded ourselves in the project, visiting the site and working closely with the internal team. Every layout, font and image was carefully considered, evolving the look subtly, shaping the narrative and keeping the magazine rooted in history but ready for today.

A special thanks to
Wendy and Annie, for being so helpful and dedicated to the history of Bletchley Park. We’ve enjoyed every moment learning so much about the brand and the history behind it
“I really enjoyed collaborating with Bletchley Park to design and deliver their ‘Ultra’ magazine. The success of our first project together has laid the foundations for a strong partnership, and along with the rest of the Stratos team, I’m excited to bring more of Bletchley Park’s incredible stories to life in the future.”
